Carbon Neutral Holidays
We have planted over 4000 trees on our farm. They go in as 'whips' and are a combination of soft, medium and hardwoods. The idea is that by the time our great-grandchildren live here they will be the custodians of an oak wood.

While listening to the debate about the right tax level for air tickets to make up for the carbon emissions, you can have a luxurious holiday knowing that Hall Farm and Nene Valley Cottages are givers not takers in the carbon balance.

I have to warn you that you will be dedicated people if you holiday here without a car as we are 5 miles from the nearest shop but you can check out the trees in their varying sizes to see that, on balance, your holiday is part of an enterprise that is on the side of the good guys. We are miles from perfection but it is better than the alternative. You will also be able to see just how slowly even softwoods grow if they are not the sort grown commercially. As for oaks, those that have been in highly fertile ground for nearly ten years can still be very small; which is why we all have to do our bit now.

If you want to look at alternatives, Richard Linington has an excellent blog brimming with ideas for those who don't see caring for the environment as being incompatible with having a good holiday.
