Fishing
There are many lakes nearby, including
Elinor Trout Fishery, four miles away in Aldwincle, with excellent carp fishing at a number of locations. There are also good lakes at
Stanwick. This is also a great place to take the kids for a walk or bike ride.
Only 2 miles away is Barnwell Country Park which has access for the disabled and is also very child friendly.
A little further afield, just north of Rockingham Castle, is Eyeborook Trout Fishery. 'Nestling on the borders of three counties, Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire, Eyebrook Reservoir is a jewel hidden in one of the prettiest parts of England. Surrounded by rolling arable fields, pasture land, spruce, pine and willow trees, you would be hard stretched to find a more attractive looking water' says Trout Fisherman Magazine.
On the farm we have a couple of small lakes which are full of carp and those with their own rods are welcome to try their luck. One of the guys on the farm and his son claim to have caught over forty in a day a few years ago but the fish must have got wiser since then.
